Rocca Sinibalda
Rocca Sinibalda rises to 552 meters above the sea level
and is surrounded by intense green forests. It is not far away from the
mountains of Terminillo and is only a thirty minute drive (20 km) away from
Locanda del Frullo.
The Sforza Cesarini Castle is of great visual impact. Its original construction dates back to the year 1000. It was rebuilt as a fortress by the architect Baldassare Peruzzi on Cardinal Alessandro Cesarini’s behest in 16th century and since has become the village’s most dominant construction thanks to its defensive structure.
The interior was enriched with frescoes in the following
centuries. The castle became a national monument in 1928 and reopened in April
2014 after recent restoration works.
